Can Turbine PumpsThe figure provided here illustrates a “Can Turbine Pump”. This is also a type of “line shaft turbine pump.” In this design the pumping column is enclosed in a sealed “can” or vessel. The vessel has two connections. The lower part of the can is connected to the suction side of the pump. This allows the incoming water to come in contact with the pumping unit. The suction inlet is indicated by “A” in the illustration. The upper part of the pump column (not the can) is provided with a pipe which is connected in a “T” formation. This is indicated by “B” in the illustration. The water being discharged flows up inside the pump column and discharges through this connection. Graphic Source: Goulds Pumps |
