Boiler: Section 1

This figure shows the first section. Notice the following:

a. The region marked “Steam Generator” is the main furnace area. Water is converted into steam in this region.

b. In the top regions you can see various types of superheaters (we’ll learn about them in later sections).

c. Coal pulverizers are shown at the bottom. The purpose of the coal pulverizers is to convert coal into a fine powder.
