Introduction to a Real Boiler System
This section is designed to give you some physical sense about the enormity of a large steam generation system. In later modules, we will learn more details about the systems shown here.
The block diagram shown here represents a typical high pressure steam generation system. For example, it may be used to represent a modern 860 MW coal-fired utility boiler. A system such as this is provided with modern environmental protection equipment.
The block diagram does not show various systems in a serial fashion. For example, the Forced Draft Fan, shown in the second block, supplies air to the steam generator shown in the first block.
