Basic Boiler Systems

A power plant consists of many independent processes which work together to make the overall system work. For example, the water treatment process is a completely independent system, yet it must work properly for the overall system to work efficiently.

In a typical thermal power plant, boilers are used to produce high pressure steam. The steam produced by the boilers is routed to steam turbine-generators. The high pressure steam is used to rotate the steam turbine, which is coupled to an electric power generator. The rotation of the power generator produces electricity. In this module we will focus on how major systems interact.
