Grease Lubrication

Many motors are designed to be lubricated with grease. In such cases, the lubricant is fed to the bearings through a pressure fitting or a grease nipple from a hand-operated grease gun.

Every year thousands of electric motors are damaged due to over-lubrication with grease. Too much grease around the bearings insulates and seriously hinders the conduction of heat away from the bearing. Excessive grease can also blow out the grease seal. You should not attempt to grease an electric motor unless you are properly trained to do so.
