Main Types of Gate Valve Discs
Gate valve discs are available in many different designs. In this section, we’ll discuss the most common designs.
a. Solid wedge design
b. Double disc design
c. Split Wedge Design
d. Flexible Wedge Disc
Solid Wedge Design
We’ve seen this figure in an earlier section. Here, the valve disc is in the form of one solid disc. This is the most common design because it is most economical and provides good service for most of the common applications.
This design does not jam in place if it is operated badly. More complicated designs are likely to become totally dysfunctional if abused.
