Valve Body
The body is designed to peform a number of functions. Notice that it is of modular design, meaning that it can be connected to other equipment.
The body is provided with a flange on either side. These flanges are used to connect the valve body to pipes.
In some designs the valve body is designed for welded joints (in such cases, you do not need the flanges.)
The valve body provides housing for the valve seat rings.
Usually, as shown here, the valve body is equipped with a flanged connection at the top, to allow connection to and support of the bonnet.
