d. Inspect the support systems used for the valves. Look for movements in hangers and connections. If unusual movement is detected, find out the cause and take remedial actions.
e. Valve nuts and bolts can loosen up due to vibration in the piping system. Tighten bolts if necessary.
f. Tighten packing if too much leakage is detected.
g. Clean and lubricate the valve stem. A few drops of oil on the stem prevent sticking due to corrosion.
h. Some valves are provided with grease fittings. Learn how to use a grease gun properly and grease the fittings on a regular basis. Over greasing can result in damage to the grease seals. DO NOT use a grease gun unless you are trained to do so.
