Air Heaters

Most of the large industrial boilers use air heaters. The purpose of an air heater is to heat the combustion air (flowing into the furnace for combustion) with flue gas which is leaving the furnace. The objectives of this process are:

a. Heat the combustion air to improve the combustion process. Hot combustion air is also used to dry pulverized coal and transport it into the furnace.

b. Recover heat energy from flue gas leaving the furnace. This improves the overall efficiency of the boiler system by 5 to 10%.
