Gathering of Key Information

For each piece of equipment, obtain the following data from your supervisor. In many cases you will find that he has never been asked for this information and he has no idea about it. Well, it is his job to get this information for you, and he will be glad to do it for you. Required data:

a. Recommended lubricant

b. Recommended lubricant temperature

c. Recommended lubricant level for liquid lubricants

d. Recommended grease quantity (usually given in ounces per week or month)

e. Recommended change out frequency

f. Recommended practices and frequency for sampling

g. Recommended inspection practices (how to measure the temperature and level)

h. Recommended safety practices (items such as safety precautions while you carry out your duties, should be equipment be shut down? etc.)
