Grease Fittings
A large number of industrial equipment is lubricated with grease and is provided with the necessary fittings. You connect a grease gun to these fittings to pump grease to the bearing regions. Some of the common grease fittings are shown below.
Fitting Operational PrincipleAll of the grease fittings are provided with a spring-ball sealing arrangement. Under normal circumstances, the fitting is sealed by the ball (A). However, when a grease gun is applied, the ball is pushed away by the grease gun pressure. It is important to wipe the fitting clean before the gun is applied, otherwise all of the collected dust will be forced into the bearing region. |
