Plug Valves
This figure shows the internal structure of a plug valve. In this design a plug is used which has a hollow opening through it. The plug is mounted on a shaft, which can be turned through 90 degrees by an external lever or handle. To open this valve, the plug is rotated to bring its opening in line with the fluid flow.
