Combustion Triangle

This figure illustrates the interdependence of three factors necessary for combustion. Each of the three legs of this triangle represents one of the elements necessary for combustion. The three elements are:

a. Fuel

b. Oxygen

c. Temperature (or Heat)

If any one of the three legs is missing, fire cannot be started, or maintained if it has already started.
