Self-Priming Pumps – continued.
This figure is showing a cut-away view of a self-priming pump. The discharge side is indicated by “A” and the suction side is indicated by “B”. Notice the large chamber at the bottom from which water cannot drain back into the suction side when pump is shut down. Notice that the suction inlet is located at a higher elevation than the lower chamber. This prevents water from draining back when the pump is shut down.
In the next section we describe how it works.
