This figure provided here illustrates how temperature increases as heat is added to water. Let’s assume that we are considering one pound of water at 70 deg F. Let’s see what happens as heat is added to it. Heat being added is shown on the x-axis (horizontal axis), and the corresponding temperature rise is shown on the y-axis (vertical axis).
