Energization - continued.

c. Pneumatic

Similar to pressurized liquids, pressurized gases contain a lot of energy. The term "pneumatic" refers to energy content of compressed air.

d. Mechanical

Some components of mechanical equipment contain a lot of energy. A moving mass, such as the rotating element of a generator contains mechanical energy. Charged springs contain stored mechanical energy.

Key components of proper de-energization:

a. Cut off energy supply to the equipment.

b. Drain or dissipate all of the stored energy in the equipment or the system.
