For the diagram shown here, we are given the following:

V = 100 volts

I = 6 amps

Find the power consumed by the resistor.

Solution

Power = V x I = 100 x 6 = 600 watts

Example 2

For the diagram shown above we are given the following:

I = 10 amps

R = 5 ohms

Find the power consumed by the circuit.

Solution

Power = I x I x R = 10 x 10 x 5 = 500 watts
