Class 1 Lever - continued
A Class 1 Lever is characterized by:
a. L1 is greater than L2
b. F2 is greater than F1.
c. MA is greater than 1 (this means we can use a small force to lift a heavier weight).
d. F1 and F2 are opposite in direction to each other.
e. The fulcrum is located between F1 and F2.
At the lower part of the illustration, all of the necessary formulas are provided. Here’s an important thing to remember: The formulas are identical, irrespective of the lever class. However, to use these formulas you must clearly understand the definitions of F1, F2, L1, and L2.
